For the last couple of years we’ve been doing retrospective reviews of the local betting scene and giving out sportsbook recommendations for the upcoming year. Continuing the trend seems like a good idea, so let’s take a look at some of the best operators in Canada to understand which ones would be worth your time in 2025.
There haven’t been many changes since our last year’s post and some of those recommendations still stand. Nevertheless, some things have changed, been moved around and updated, so it would be beneficial to be aware of that.
If you don’t want to get into all of the details or just don’t have time for that right now, we will be so kind and will save you some time. The top two betting brands in Canada for 2025 are Batery and Mostbet.
Gambling Regulation in Canada
There hasn't been much news on the regulatory front in 2024 and, honestly, we wouldn’t expect much to happen in 2025. iGaming laws and regulations in Canada allow new brands to enter the market and at the same time ensure a relatively safe environment for regular players.
In general, each province would have its own way to regulate gaming activities and it’s own ways of monitoring them. However, the two main regulatory organizations are still iGaming Ontario and the Kahnawake Gaming Commission whose influence often goes beyond the provinces and territories where they primarily operate.
Navigating the Local Sports Betting Landscape in 2025
Even though not much has changed in the last year from a regulatory perspective, there are some noticeable changes with betting brands and their offers. More and more new names are entering Canada and that forces brands to become more competitive when it comes to attracting new players.
Two of the three recommendations made last year are still relevant for 2025, although there are more things that you might want to keep in mind. Finally, due to some less fortunate changes during this year - we decided to remove one brand and leave only two.
Batery – Our Personal Favorite So Far
Batery sportsbook was one of our top picks last year and they we can now confidently say that they are the “number one” for 2025. For over two years now, they operate a dedicated Canadian website that holds a valid Kahnawake Gaming Commission license. The validity of their license can always be confirmed by going to the regulator’s official website or by following the license badge in the footer of their website.
Batery (formerly known as Fbet) has a lot of things they bring to the table, starting from a straightforward onboarding experience with their quick registration process, all the way to live streaming and fast crypto payments. We will, of course, go over some of the key things here.
What’s New for Batery in 2025?
- Android betting app: Since last year, Batery have launched their official mobile app for Android devices. This application has different versions for different devices. You can pick a standard Android version or specialized ones for Huawei, Samsung and Honor devices. It can be downloaded directly from Batery’s website.
- Increased welcome offer: Last year the welcome offer for new players was a 100% deposit bonus up to C$1,000 which was quite high already. This year, the bonus amount was increased to C$1,500.
- No more free bets: Batery used to have a second welcome present for newcomers, a free bet, they don’t have that anymore. Nevertheless, all new players from Canada are still eligible for the increased welcome bonus.
- Crypto bonus: Every single cryptocurrency deposit you make will come with a 10% bonus. This is applicable to any crypto deposit equal to C$30 or more and the maximum bonus you can get is C$100.
Mostbet – Steadily Growing its Player Local Base
We’ve already brought up Mostbet Canada last time as a brand that has years of experience and a good reputation among sports fans in Europe. Again, last year they were a relatively new name in the local betting scene, so it took them some time to gain traction.
Now, they have quite a large and consistently growing player base in Canada. This is a clear indication that people who come to them tend to stay for the long term.
While we’ve already covered them to quite a large extent in our post last year – there is still a lot to be said. Therefore, let’s take a closer look at what changed during this year and what further changes we can expect in 2025.
What’s New for Mostbet in 2025?
- Increased welcome offer: looks like this has been the trend among sportsbook operators in Canada this year. Many brands have increased their welcome offers substantially and Mostbet is one of them. The bonus for newcomers last year was 125% up to C$1,000. At the moment, as a newcomer from Canada, you will be greeted with a 125% bonus up to C$1,500.
- No more weekly bonuses: this one’s slightly disappointing – last year you could get deposit bonuses every week. Now, that offer is no longer around, so the only deposit bonus you can get is the welcome one. Nevertheless, that doesn’t mean that Mostbet aren’t going to add something similar again at a slightly later time.
- Risk-free bets: while you won’t get weekly bonuses, you will be able to place risk-free bets regularly. Every few days Mostbet puts up a risk-free bet event, where you can place a bet and get 100% of that bet back as bonus funds in case it loses.
Responsible Betting – Healthy Betting Habits
Sports betting should remain a pastime designed to enhance your enjoyment of watching your favorite sports and can even provide an opportunity for social interaction.
That said, it’s important that betting doesn’t become a source of stress in your life. If you notice that you’re wagering more than you can comfortably afford or constantly feeling the need to chase losses, it might be a good idea to take a step back.
For those who find it difficult to pause and keep returning to betting, reaching out for help is a key step. One helpful resource is gamblingtherapy.org, which offers free access to trained professionals available for online support 24/7. You can also join group discussions, where you can either listen to others’ stories or share your own when you feel ready.
Of course, if you have access to local resources or the support of friends and family, they are often the best place to start.
