When Elon Musk bought Twitter, I started looking for another place to happen. I continued to tweet, even when the app was re-branded X, but I tried several other social media apps looking for my plan B.
I tried Threads and didn't like it at all. I tried Mastodon and didn't last a day. I signed up for Spoutible but lasted less than a day. The old standbys, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram, didn't do the trick. But Bluesky felt like old Twitter, only it was missing active users.
Then, Donald Trump won the US election and suddenly Bluesky had people. I am loving it over there, enjoying the connections and engagements, and I barely check Twitter at all anymore. And when I do check my mentions and DMs on Twitter, it's not fun. And what's the point if it's not fun?
Now Twitter is strictly a promotional channel for me. That is to say I'll post new Toronto Mike'd episodes there, and my OTD posts, but all of that and more is posted to my Bluesky account.
Bluesky is where it's at.
