I attended the Toronto Maple Leafs home opener at Christie Pits yesterday and it was an absolutely gorgeous afternoon with a great vibe and excellent baseball. You can hear my recording here.
Here's a photo I'll cherish... Wendel Clark to my left, and Stephen Brunt to my right... and Rik Emmett on deck.
There was an extended segment with Steve Paikin and Mark Hebscher that was just fantastic. These two should have their own show. Their tribute to Ron Ellis was magic.
And a big thank you to Hebsy for getting my Doug Gilmour jersey signed by Killer himself.
My kids had a blast and got their baseballs signed by 1993 World Series champion Rob Butler.
A big thanks to Maple Leafs owner Keith Stein who made his Toronto Mike'd debut alongside the moustache-less Rod Black. Rod asures me he'll have his moustache on June 2.
An amazing day and I urge everyone to check the schedule and make the trek to Christie and Bloor. Did I mention it's free? I'll be recording live again on June 2 when the Maple Leafs take on the Guelph Royals.
