We lost Richard Lewis, so I've been diving into his biography. One very fun fact is that Billy Joel's "My Life" references him!
Billy Joel has said he was referring to Lewis when he sang in “My Life” of an old friend who “bought a ticket to the West Coast/Now he gives them a stand-up routine in L.A.”
That got me diving into "My Life", a song I first knew as the theme song of Bosum Buddies, a sitcom starring Tom Hanks and Peter Scoleri. Yes, that Tom Hanks.
Eventually I ended up listening to "Sha-La-La-La-La" by the Walkers, a Danish group I don't really know at all. If you haven't heard it before, it's going to sound awfully familiar.
And yes, the Walkers beat Billy to the tune by five years.
