At the end of my retreat with the 2014 Chevy Impala, I was lucky enough to get a tour of the GM plant in Oshawa. Well, to be honest, the tour was only a small part of the 10 million square feet Oshawa Car Assembly, but it was still very impressive.
Logistically, it's a mind bender. They make the Cadillac XTS, Chevrolet Camaro, Chevrolet Equinox, Chevrolet Impala and Buick Regal around the clock, and everything runs like a finely tuned watch. It takes about 25-28 hours to build a car from start to finish
There are approximately 5,400 hourly employees and 400 salaried employees, and many working in the plant have their own boombox blasting their own tunes. As you walk the tour you'll go from golden oldies to hard rock to classic rock and country.
