The Strombo Show is now on CBC Radio 2. George Stroumboulopoulos will get four hours every Sunday night starting November 8th.
Bear with me as I pat myself on the back for calling this back on July 12.
I've got CFNY on the radio, trying to listen to Strombo to hear what he'd say about Martin, but I'm not hearing The Strombo Show. I'm hearing a guy named Jeff Leake playing the typical music 102.1 plays these days, and there's no mention of George Stroumboulopoulos or The Strombo Show. The "S" word hasn't been uttered once.
Did Strombo quit Corus?
One week later, there was more evidence that Strombo and Corus had split ways. By the end of the month, I was calling the death of The Strombo Show on Corus, including 102.1 the Edge / CFNY. Then, I got the call.
George Stroumboulopoulos called my Blackberry and we discussed his ideas for an "independent FM". It was clear from our convo that The Strombo Show was going to resurface somewhere. I think CBC Radio 2 is an ideal home for the show and I can't wait to check it out.
