When choosing a rooting interest in baseball, once my Jays are out of the picture, I usually focus on teams with Canadians and former Jays. There are a handful of Canadians in the Major League Baseball playoffs this year, and a whole bunch of former Jays.
Canadians
- Russell Martin - Dodgers
- Rich Harden - Cubs
- Ryan Dempster - Cubs
- Jason Bay - Red Sox
- Eric Gagne - Brewers
- Matt Stairs - Phillies
Former Blue Jays
- Casey Blake - Dodgers
- Jeff Kent - Dodgers
- Gabe Gross - Rays
- Eric Hinske - Rays
- Trever Miller - Rays
- Ted Lilly - Cubs
- Reed Johnson - Cubs
- Matt Stairs - Phillies
- Jayson Werth - Phillies
- Dewayne Wise - White Sox
- Justin Speier - Angels
- Kevin Cash - Red Sox
- Dave Bush - Brewers
I'm leaving Mike Timlin off the list of former Jays because Boston left him off the playoff roster for their first round playoff series against the Angels. I'd like to see Timlin added for the ALCS. He's the only active player to have played on four non-New York Yankees championship teams.
As for me, I'm rooting for Russell Martin's Dodgers.
