I'm featuring 1988 Topps Cards featuring members of my beloved Blue Jays that are featured on this blog.
Duane Ward was lights out for the Jays in 1992 and 1993. In 1992 he usually came in to close out the 8th leaving the 9th for Terminator Tom Henke. In 1993, Ward was remarkable, recording 45 saves and leading us to our second World Series title.
As good as Ward was in the regular season, he was even better in the World Series. In the two World Series' he played in, he had a 1.12 ERA. In 1994 he was struck with bicep tendonitis and when he was shelved, so was the Jays pursuit of a 3-peat.
The bigger they come, the harder they fall. When he was healthy, Duane Ward was lights out.
