I've always been fascinated by the large contingent of Leafs fans who constantly wear rose coloured glasses. You know these guys, they believe in their team and will defend them and every facet of the organization until hell freezes over.
I love this team. I always have. I love this team, but I'm embarrassed by what my beloved franchise has become. I came of age during the Harold Ballard era, so I know dysfunction, but the current state of affairs makes me cringe. It's so bad, I don't even feel like writing about it anymore. Firstly, we're horrible. Secondly, there's no hope for the immediate future. Finally, I have no faith management will do what's in the best interest of this team. That's a recipe for sports fan disgust.
Do any fellow Leaf fans feel there's any chance of making the playoffs this season? If Toskala somehow stands on his head and slips us into 8th place in the conference, isn't that a worst-case scenario? Are we now at the point where loving this team means rooting for losses?
