I received an email from a company called Web Sheriff the other day with the subject line "URGENT/DMCA TAKE DOWN-WHITE STRIPES". Here's what they wanted to tell me.

6. Infringing Activity : MUSIC & VIDEO FILE UPLOADING & DOWNLOADING
7. Infringing Web Site : www.torontomike.com
8. Infringing File Location(s): http://www.torontomike.com/2007/05/the_white_stripes_video_for_ic.html
9. DMCA Request : Remove Infringed Title(s) from Infringing File Location(s) ASAP.

I don't know who this Web Sheriff is, but the entire premise of their empty argument is bullshit. Yes, I embedded the video for The White Stripes' "Icky Thump" on that page, but it was uploaded to YouTube by Warner Brothers. Warner Music is the legal rights holders, which makes my act completely on the up and up.
I'd like to dedicate this next video to Web Sheriff.
