The Leafs have acquired Vesa Toskala and Mark Bell in a draft day deal with the San Jose Sharks. This trade isn't about Mark Bell, it's all about Vesa Toskala. Actually, it's all about Andrew Raycroft.
If you've read my Leafs ramblings over the past year, you'll know I'm not a Raycroft fan. I have a theory as to why he got so much playing time last season, but it still boggles the mind. Raycroft is mediocre, and this teams needs something better.
Vesa Toskala is potentially a great deal better. I'm already rooting for the guy to start. Toskala's record was 26-10-1 with a 2.35 goals-against average and .908 save percentage last season. In a deal that only cost us draft picks, I'm digging it. It's not like the Leafs can draft anyway.
