In the mid-80s, I loved WWF wrestling. Rowdy Roddy Piper was my favourite and I watched weekly. I even went to a couple of live events, including Hulkamania at Exhibition Stadium. As a fan, I loved The Wrestling Album, which I owned on cassette.
That cassette tape bit the dust long ago and I've been looking to get my mitts on a CD copy for quite some time. Every song evokes memories and takes me right back to 1985 when the Blue Jays were winning their first division pennant and "Back to the Future" was ruling the box office.
I mentioned I added 348 albums to my MP3 collection yesterday. One of those was The Wrestling Album and I'm loving it. "Land of a Thousand Dances?!!?" is as good as I remember, "For Everybody" is still the best cut on the album and "Grab Them Cakes" is still funky.
Eat your heart out, Rick Springfield. The Wrestling Album is back where it belongs.
