Right off the top I should declare that Fast Times At Ridgemont High is one of my favourite movies of all time. It's one of the few movies I own on DVD. There are so many great scenes and lines, but one line in particular from Mike Damone actually changed my life.
Mike Damone delivers the line when he's sharing his five point plan for successful dating with Mark Ratner. "Act like wherever you are, that's the place to be." That's it, those ten words carry all the weight.
Think about it, if wherever you are is the place to be, you're always in the best place to be at any given time. On a Sunday morning, walking in the park, just throw up your arms and say "isn't this great?" Heck, on a Thursday afternoon, waiting in line at the MTO, make the same statement. If you realize there's no better place to be at that moment because you're in the place to be, you're always happy.
You laugh, but Damone was on to something. It's a state of mind that guarantees personal satisfaction. It works, trust me. His other points were solid too, but #3 is for me.
