This entry sort of ties in with my blue transistor radio. In the 80s I'd always see television commercials for music compilations available in vinyl or cassette formats. They'd scroll the songs in the collection and play a quick snippet of the big hits.
This is essentially how I first heard many staples from the 50s, 60s and 70s. I loved these commercials and thoroughly enjoyed getting a taste of The Doors, The Allman Brothers, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Elton John, The Guess Who and whatever else made the ad. To this day I'll sit and watch a Time Life infomercial just to hear the music.
This ad is for Freedom Rock, a four record or three cassette tape collection that could be had for $19.95. It's an ideal example of those ads I used to love.
