Re: Blenders Worst Songs Ever:
Wow, this sure generated lots of discussion between Hubby and me. Here are our thoughts:
Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da (Beatles).......This is such a happy tune and reminds us of a favorite TV show(Life goes On).........Lets keep in mind, the worst Beatles song( Revolution No 9) is better than most crap put out today.
My Heart Will Go On(Celine Dion)......Not being a fan of Celine Dion, We have to disagree with this choice. This song has been definately overpalyed and It is painful to watch Celine sing it but who doesn't watch Titanic listening to that James Horner score with Celine singing and not shed a tear?
The Sounds of Silence(Simon and Garfunkel).........a good song to listen to when you are feeling glum.
The End( The Doors)..........My all time favorite doors song. It is not only the opening to one of AFIs top 100 films of all time, it is a very dark, somber and melodic tune of its time. Psychadelic!!!!!
Toby Keith.......They're all bad!!!
Broken Wings(Mister, Mister).......Okay the 80's conjures up fun times and as people reminisce they think the 80's had good music. If you really reflect, it is the memories that most times are good, not the music. If you were to listen to this song choice today, it does not sound dated and is not worthy of being voted the worst.
You're the Inspiration(Chicago).......Corny Lyrics but totally listenable.
Illegal Alien(Phil Collins).......This song is humorous and the video is great.
Kokomo(Beach Boys)......A catchy tune from a cute flick that had both the late Carl Wilson ,cousin Mike Love and the rest of the boys carry on without deceased brother Dennis and the abscence of founding member, Brian.
Ebony and Ivory(Paul McCartney)......Like my previous mention of the the earlier Beatles tune the worst Paul Mccartney song is better than most crap today.
The Heart Of Rock & Roll(Huey Lewis and The News)..........and the rest of the songs off the "Sports" album are one of the greatest LPs of our time.
Our choice for worst songs:
- Wind beneath my wings(Bette Middler)
- I swear by?????
- Friend in low places (Garth Brooks)
- Could have been so beautiful(Tiffany)
- Muskrat Love ( America).......this version is worse than Captain and Tenille.
- Abracadabra (Steve Miller)
- Midnight at the Oasis....by some chick
- The Morning after by????
Jill
I'm still shocked that two people as talented as Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder could produce such crap. There's no way you can defend that one. I'm not sure how you defend "Kokomo" either. C'mon, they had John Stamos on drums for heaven's sake. John freakin' Stamos.
I do agree that they were awfully harsh on "The Sounds of Silence" and "Broken Wings" does bring us back to a simpler decade when our war was cold, Nancy had us just saying no and Steve Guttenberg was a box office draw.
