Knight Ridder Inc. is in the news today. Knight Ridder was forced to put itself up for sale last November by its largest shareholders, who were frustrated with the company's lagging share price. Final bids are now due.
As a kid I would read the Toronto Star each day and would sometimes see "Knight Ridder" in the footer. A product of the 80s, I was also a huge fan of the television show "Knight Rider". I just assumed Knight Ridder was a humourous play on the name "Knight Rider". I thought it was pretty clever too.
What a dumb ass.
