Checking the milk calendar on the wall, this is 2006, not 1966. During the Super Bowl half time show, the audio failed to pick up one of Mick's lyrics in "Start Me Up". Children everywhere were spared from having to hear a geriatric exclaim "you make a dead man come".
Who would be offended by this lyric? Who the hell would even be able to make it out? One damn nipple and American regressed four decades. In the 60s, these same Stones were asked to change the lyric "let's spend the night together" to "let's spend some time together" for "The Ed Sullivan Show".
In the 60s we could chalk up this ludicrous fear to ignorance. In 2006, it's just embarrassing. Let the dead man come, already!
