Don't talk to Ryan about Glen Healy. The mere sight of Healy upsets him. Many years ago, Ryan, always a fan of sports betting, played a big Pro-Line ticket and had it all sewn up except for one game. The mighty Pittsburgh Penguins had to beat the New York Islanders in the seventh game of their playoff series. Pittsburgh, led by Mario Lemieux and Ron Francis, had won two Stanley Cups in a row. They were the clear favourites and Ryan was going to win a lot of cash once they disposed of the Islanders. Money in the bank, right?
Glen Healy, who stood on his head the entire series, didn't let up and stole the game. Healy's exceptional performance killed the ticket for poor Ryan and he has never forgotten. Even the sound of bagpipes brings him back to that fateful day in Pittsburgh.
Today, my little brother Ryan turns 29 and I'd like to wish him all the best. Happy Birthday Ryan!
