There are 3 R's in school - reading, riting & rithmatic. The 4th R (religion) belongs outside of our educational system. That's what churches are for. Where do you draw the line? This 4th R is a family choice not an educational matter. If a family decides to dedicate their childs beliefs in accordance with their education I believe they should enroll their kids in a special school totally dedicated to their religion - not gov't funded but funded by their religion. It's the parent's choice - not the state (or province).

I hear ya... I happened to attend schools all my life that were religion-based and funded by the government. When I was really young, I just assumed there were school boards for other religions too. When I realized this was unique for Roman Catholics, I wondered how non-Catholics felt about this slight. The constitution demanded a publicly funded Catholic education but that was 138 years ago. Times have changed.
I personally don't have a problem with students learning about the world's many religions and spiritual beliefs and actually view that as a positive, but when the science curriculum includes details on Adam and Eve, I'm freakin'!
