I was just looking at a list of the 10 most watched prime-time shows for the week ended Sunday, according to Nielsen Media Research. It's an American list, but I suspect the Canadian top ten is fairly similar. I noticed I don't watch very many shows in the top ten. Here are the top ten shows last week and whether I watch them or not.
- Desperate Housewives, ABC, 25.7 million viewers - I've never seen an episode. I watched 15 minutes of the premiere and thought it truly sucked.
- American Idol (Tuesday), Fox, 25.5 million viewers - Since we're being honest here, I must admit I watch.
- American Idol (Wednesday), Fox, 24.4 million viewers - Since we're being honest here, I must admit I watch.
- CSI, CBS, 23.7 million viewers - I've never seen an episode. You're shocked, right?
- Survivor: Palau, CBS, 21.2 million viewers - I haven't seen Survivor since they were in Australia. That was a dozen seasons ago.
- Grey's Anatomy, ABC, 17.9 million viewers - I've never seen an episode but I know it stars Sandra Oh which is cool.
- House, Fox, 16.5 million viewers - I've never seen an episode but My brother tells me it's great.
- Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, ABC, 16.4 million viewers - I've never seen an episode.
- Cold Case, 16.3 million viewers - I've never seen an episode.
- Everybody Loves Raymond, CBS, 15.8 million viewers - I've never seen a complete episode but My wife watches it in syndication. I don't get the allure, but I'll probably watch the finale out of morbid curiosity.
Please don't tell anyone I watch "American Idol". I'm not proud of this fact.
