Melvin Goes to Dinner: 7 out of 10.
"Mr. Show" was a comedic series starring Bob Odenkirk and David Cross and it might be one of the funniest things ever produced. Prior to this series, I knew Bob Odenkirk as Larry Saunders' agent on that great series and now I look for Bob Odenkirk and David Cross projects because I just know they're going to be quality. Cross, of course, was/is a part of "Arrested Development", another hilarious example.
"Melvin Goes to Dinner" is a very low budget, dialogue-based film directed by Odenkirk and it's surprisingly good, once you get into it. It's not a fast starter, but before you know it you're thoroughly enjoying the story as told by a group at dinner. It's not so much a comedy as a real-life blend of emotions, many sad and touching. Cameos from Jack Black and David Cross are damn funny though, so there's certainly comedy in the mix.
