Bill Cameron was 62. He was a veteran broadcaster and author who was host of Global TV's Newsweek from 1978 to '83, an anchor on Toronto's Citytv in the 1980s and a broadcaster at the CBC after that.
When Bill Cameron was anchoring CBLT's Toronto News in the 90s, it was my go-to station for the 6:00 news. I always thought Cameron had a deadly combination of intelligence and wit and I followed him to CBC Newsworld when he left CBLT. I heard his voice earlier this year as the narrator of an excellent documentary and remembered how versatile he was. He will be missed.
