Anyone is welcome to submit a Guest Blog Entry to torontomike.com. I received the following submission earlier today.
How is it that Green Day's Holiday has 101 comments? Is it that controversial? And...how did Good Charlotte's Emotionless get on there (again!) ? I love SLS but where are all these newbies coming from? What's happening to SLS???

Tal, I am so glad you wrote me about this subject that is very near and dear to my heart. I'll address your specific concerns about SLS and then I'd like to make a general statement about it.
- Visitors can comment on any song that has been submitted for consideration. We don't exert any control over what's popular. Good Charlotte posts consistently generate ten times the traffic that an entry for System of a Down does. Clearly popularity has little to do with quality. Having said that, the new Green Day album is really good and I'm glad to see their latest single garnering so much attention.
- So much Good Charlotte crap gets submitted it's tough for me to wade through it in order to keep everything tidy. "Emotionless" slipped past the goalie twice and I appreciate you bringing it to my attention. I've deleted the second entry. For the record, a Good Charlotte song will never, ever appear on SLS but we really can't stop people from submitting it for our consideration.
- I'm glad you love SLS. I love it too. As with any web-based bulletin board it's going to attract a whack of newbies. I used to complain in this space about their im-speak and cyber litter but now I've come to accept them as part of our global village. Every village needs an idiot or two.
- You asked what's happening with SLS. This is a wonderful segue into my closing paragraph, thanks!
Mark and I discussed the future of SLS this morning. We tossed around a few ideas and have reached a consensus on what we need to do to kick SLS up a notch. For one, SLS is getting it's own domain name. Secondly, we're going to reorganize the front page so that it's a blog with the submissions in a side panel. Finally, we're going to better maintain the blog. All this plus a cool SLS interview with Custom...it's all happening soon.
As you see, SLS isn't going anywhere. In fact, we've only just begun.
