Re: Your "U2 & SLS" Blog Entry
No, you are not alone Mike! I feel the same way about U2 now. I have a copy of "All That You Can't Leave Behind" and I got their "Best Of 1990-2000 & B-Sides" as a birthday present in 2002. It's funny, I'm Irish and I lived in Belfast for 5 years from ages 8-13, but I never had a real interest in U2 or saw them in concert because I was young and wasn't exposed to them enough, even though some of my cousins were fans.
As I was expressing to someone else on this very topic not too long ago, I didn't even get a chance to like "Vertigo" before that iPod commercial made me sick of it. Now it's just overplayed & annoying. I feel that U2 have sold out and that it's just time for Bono & the boys to hang up their hats & have a few pints. Yeah, they're a great band, but I think they've run their course with me.
Does this make me a traitor?
Annemarie
Bono was born in Dublin and his old man is Catholic and since Belfast is the center of Protestantism in Northern Ireland, you probably won't be labelled a traitor. My descendants are from Dublin, so I'm likely the bigger traitor.
