The latest Tom Cruise movie, Collateral, opens Friday. I know this because I saw the trailer prior to Spider-Man 2 and the advertisement frequently appears on my television. I loved the trailer and the ads for this flick, but not because I'm particularly looking forward to Michael Mann's latest film. For me, it's all about the tunage.
Alice in Chains' "Man In The Box" is featured prominently in both the trailer and tv ads. Damn I dig that tune. Off of Alice in Chains' debut album Facelift in 1990, it's a moody little bleak number that's always struck a chord with me.
I'm the man in the box
Buried in my shit
Won't you come and save me, save me
Feed my eyes, can you sew them shut?
Jesus Christ, deny your maker
He who tries, will be wasted
Feed my eyes now you've sewn them shut
It's as awesome today as it was 14 years ago. What a killer band.
