Where's my head at? Yesterday's Friday Five was completely inaccurate. My favourite all-time song with a female on lead vocals is "Kool Thing" from Sonic Youth.
From Sonic Youth's 1990 album Goo, "Kool Thing" was indeed a cool thing. You can't understate Sonic Youth's influence on the scene that would bless us with Nirvana. In fact, Sonic Youth was instrumental in getting Nirvana signed to Geffen. Having said that, Sonic Youth rocked in their own right.
