In September of 2001, System of a Down released Toxicity. In a month that will be forever remembered for the 9/11 attacks, one of my favourite rock albums of all time was launched into orbit. Every tune on Toxicity rocks very, very hard. It's emotionally charged political music with a serious edge to it. It's one album I return to over and over and over again. Have a listen and get hooked.
In 2002 they released Steal This Album, a collection of previously recorded songs, and it's awesome too. Still, it wasn't a true follow-up to Toxicity, so I've been waiting and waiting.
My long wait is coming to an end. System of a Down have been in a North Hollywood, California rehearsal studio since January working on their next release. This is great news for those of us who enjoy their passionate but heavy rock. SOAD carry the torch once held high by RATM.
