I recently introduced James to Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody". I remember my brothers and I having a great time singing along to this epic even before Wayne's World introduced it to a new generation. James and I holler along to the operatic part and bob our heads in unison. It's very cool.
What's even cooler is that James tries to sing the "Mama mia, mama mia, mama mia let me go" part. When he starts singing about Beelzebub and starts banging his head my heart melts. Nothing could make a father prouder.
Speaking of "Bohemian Rhapsody", the Phonographic Performance Ltd took in data from 70 years of radio, club, shop and jukebox plays to find out which songs got the most airing in the United Kingdom from 1957 until 1994. "Bohemian Rhapsody" finished second. Here's the top 10:
- Procul Harum "A Whiter Shade Of Pale"
- Queen "Bohemian Rhapsody"
- Wet Wet Wet "Love Is All Around"
- The Everly Brothers "All I Have To Do Is Dream"/"Claudette"
- Bryan Adams "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You"
- Abba "Dancing Queen"
- Elvis Presley "All Shook Up"
- Rod Stewart "Maggie May"
- The Beatles "Hello Goodbye"
- The Beatles "Get Back"
