I submitted a song via the Smells Like Sour website for SLS11 consideration.
I submitted "So Far So Good" by Thornley. This isn't just because Ian Thornley is a fellow Torontonian but because I think this song is pretty decent and certainly worthy of SLS11 consideration.
Although I didn't submit it, there is another tune I think we should consider. I'm referring to "All My Real Friends" by High Holy Days. I've been listening to the MP3 of this song quite a bit lately and the sound has grown on me.
The fact that Thornley and High Holy Days are both Canadian bands signed to Roadrunner Records is completely coincidental. We're just pumping out a lot of good rock lately. If you look at the great debut from Billy Talent and Three Days Grace and combine that with great new material from Ontario bands like Finger Eleven, Danko Jones, Sum41, Alexisonfire and Jersey, not to mention classic Ontario bands like The Tragically Hip and Our Lady Peace, there's definitely a strong Southern Ontario new rock scene.
