I rarely praise Canadian television. That's mainly because it typically sucks. Sure, we've produced some very funny skit comedy shows a' la Kids in the Hall and every once in a while we churn out a Degrassi or The Newsroom, but great Canadian television shows are few and far between.
Surprisingly enough, there's a new Canadian sit-com I've caught a few times that I find extremely funny. This show is not only home grown but it rekes of Canadiana. It actually takes place in small town Saskatchewan. I'm writing about Corner Gas, a new show on CTV.
This show stars Brent Butt of all people and strikes my funny bone hard and often. I actually laugh out loud several times an episode and that's no small feat. Who says we can't make a decent sitcom?
