I spent the last two days on a retreat of sorts with Chevrolet as they showed off their new Impala. I'll write about the Impala later, but right now I want to write about the malt whiskey tasting.
I'm not much of a drinker. I enjoy a bottle of Heineken (or two) during a hockey game, but that's about it. I don't even keep malt whiskey in the house, so when Chevrolet brought in Ed Patrick from the International Order of Companions of The Quatch, Canada's premier malt whisky society, I knew I was going to learn something new.
Ed's extremely passionate about malt whiskey, and held my hand through the tasting of three single malts: Elixir, Ben Nevis and Glen Keith.
By the third glass, my eyes were watering and my throat was burning. I have no idea how you acquire a taste for whiskey, but until I do, I'm sticking with my Heineken.
